Nearby you will find the Rõuge Primeval Ööbikuorg and the deepest Estonian lake – Rõuge Suurjärv. The highest point in the Baltics, Suur Munamägi, standing at 318 meters from sea level, is also closeby.

Explore the 14th century Episcopal castle that in the Middle Ages was well known in the Catholic world as a popular destination for pilgrims. They worshipped the holy cross in the castle chapel and a visit to the chapel gave them sanctification for 40 days – it was first validated by Pope Innocentius VI in 1354.

You will also see visit the Piusa Caves, created in 1922 as a quarry of quartz sand that was used to make glass. Besides the old mining caves there are also three man-made caves in the south from the quarry, used for geological observations. Piusa caves have evolved into a popular site for hibernating bats, today the largest known hibernation colony in Eastern Europe. You will also see the nearby lovely cities of Värska and Räpina.

You will visit the ostrich farm where emus, nandus and also a Red Kangaroo are kept! You will see the Eemu windmill, similar to the ones in Scandinavia and Western Finland that is the acknowledged symbol of Muhu island, enriching the landscape and witnessing the tough work, done by Estonian ancestors.

Continuing at the Orissaare port, you will find great possibilities for sailing. The next stop will take you to the Angla windmills. Four of the five Angla windmills are typical trestle windmills, characteristic of the island of Saaremaa, built at the beginning of the 20th century. In the middle of the group stands a Dutch-style windmill, slightly taller than the others, built in 1927.

Saaremaa is famous for the meteorite craters, from which the largest, the Kaali crater is over 110 meters wide and contains a small lake known as Lake Kaali. At the peninsula tip of Sõrve, also loved by birdwatchers, you will find out who Great Tõll is and what relationship he had with the Devil.

You will also visit the lovely medieval Kuressaare Fortress that was built during 13th and 14th century and is one of the few remaining authentic castles in the Baltics. The castle was designed to provide a meeting place for Saaremaa’s nobles and served for many centuries as Episcopal residence, prison and sanctuary.

Departing from Heltermaa we will see the Pühalepa Church, Hiiumaa’s oldest stone church, the Baroque - Rococo style Suuremõisa manor that is one of the most beautiful and biggest manor-houses in Estonia and the Sooääre farm to see how typical hiiu people lived and what their houses looked like.

Kärdla – the capital of Hiiumaa – is known for its cosy islander atmosphere, so take a moment to enjoy the beautiful bohemian gardens and a cup of coffee at one of the small cafés.

The tour will continue with the Tahkuna Lighthouse, the highest lighthouse in Estonia that Tsarist Russia bought from the world exhibition of Paris in 1871 and the Reigi church with its interesting history that involves Baron O. R. L. von Ungern-Sternberg. Dedicated to Jesus, this stone church was built in memory of his son Gustav, who had taken his own life.

The Kõpu Lighthouse has over 500 years of history and is the third oldest constantly active lighthouse worldwide. It was constructed as a landmark needed by the Hanseatic League, as their merchants were complaining about ships disappearing in the Baltic Sea.

Visit the Surf Paradise that offers all kinds of water attractions like diving, surfing, jet skiing, water skiing, sea-kayaking, surfboarding, parasailing, sea trampoline, together with instructors and equipment. Sõru harbour is a popular place in the summertime, the harbour pub and accommodation are open and concerts are held in the boathouse. The sights located in the vicinity include the sailing vessel Alar and the museum.

Orjaku Harbour was a well-known fishing spot already in the 17th century and in 1912 the reconstruction of a harbour into a mine fleet of the naval forces of the Tsardom of Russia was started. Orjaku bird-watching tower is one of the highest in Estonia from where in spring and autumn could be seen thousands of migrating birds stop to have a rest in Käina Bay.
